The Chicago Sews Frockroom is back for this year’s Shirt/Dress Sew-Along!
If you’re new to the Frockroom, think of it as our virtual sewing lounge—a relaxed online space where we can work on our projects together, share progress, ask questions, troubleshoot, and enjoy a little company while we sew.
You don’t need to be at a particular stage of your project to join us. Maybe you’re still cutting fabric. Maybe you’re working through a collar stand, attaching cuffs, sewing buttonholes, making fit adjustments, or finishing that last hem. Bring whatever you’re working on and settle in.
This year, instead of opening the Frockroom for 24 hours, we’re trying something a little different: two dedicated two-hour sewing sessions.
October 24 | 5–7 PM
Join us for an early evening work session as we get into the heart of the sew-along. Use the time to make progress, work through a tricky step, or simply give yourself two uninterrupted hours to sew alongside the community.
November 7 | 12–2 PM
Our second Frockroom session gives us another chance to check in, sew together, and keep things moving as we head toward the final stretch of the sew-along.
The Frockroom is meant to be easygoing. There is no formal lesson and no expectation that everyone will be working on the same step. Come for the full two hours or drop in for whatever part of the session works for you.
And while these sessions are part of The Shirt/Dress Sew-Along, the spirit is the same as our other Chicago Sews gatherings: this is about community. Bring your shirt, shirtdress, or the project currently sitting on your sewing table and join us.
Sometimes the hardest part of a project is simply sitting down and getting started. The Frockroom gives us a date on the calendar, a little accountability, and other sewists on the screen while we do it.
So pour something good, clear a little space around your machine, and meet us in the Frockroom.

We’ll see you there.
