This month we wrapped up our first sew along, Chicago Sews French Jackets. It’s been a captivating couture journey inspired by the iconic Chanel and her timeless creations. We have enjoyed every second of stitching together with you all.
Embarking on this remarkable journey of creativity, craftsmanship, and camaraderie over the last 10 weeks filled us with immense gratitude. As we worked diligently, we didn’t just craft clothing; we also wove threads of friendship and shared many laughs.
We have to extend thanks to every one of our community partners. Each event was a special opportunity to connect, learn, and try something new. We collaborated with other sewist from HCCC and ASG Chicago. Special guest Susan Khalje gave fantastic industry insight into the making of the Chanel-style French jacket. Mary Funt helped us learn how to create richly textured trim. The WasteShed Evanston hosted open sewing hours. For the finale the Chicago French Market hosted our grand reveal.
While we always sip and socialize, we had special help to commemorate our sewing accomplishments. Thanks to Jenn Heard for helping us capture each garment.
The most special and sincere thanks to each one of you. You are the heart and soul of Chicago Sews. We appreciate you!
Happy Making!
